Looking to Buy?
As established dealers we pride ourselves on our discretion and professionalism and our client details never get shared or released. We also know that in order for you to make any meaningful purchasing decisions via the net, you need to feel satisfied about the authenticity and true condition of the piece. Therefore, every item is described and photographed as accurately as possible because this is in both your best interest and ours. If you still have any questions or would like a more detailed condition report please never hesitate to ask.
All items are available for viewing in person (by appointment) and we encourage this whenever possible. For those who live further afield, we are always happy to conduct a live video preview of any item via Skype or similar as well.
All expertise, research and descriptions are offered to the best of our ability only and we are always learning more. Therefore if you think you can add to (or correct) our knowledge of a particular item, then we would love to hear from you.
If you have a specific wish list of items you are keen to find, please send it to us so we can help look out for those items too. Please subscribe to our newsletter (which we tend to send out every other month only) so we can let you know about the latest amazing stock before anyone else.
While collection in person is always preferred to ensure you are happy with your item, we understand this is not always possible. Unless stated otherwise, all stock items are eligible for free delivery within the UK. In most cases we are happy to ship items internationally, but with higher value items, will only use reputable carriers (such as UPS , FedEx etc) to ensure the item arrives to you quickly and safely. Items will only be released for shipping once full payment has been cleared on our side and all objects will be sent fully insured and correctly documented. Any subsequent import duties etc will be the sole responsibility of the buyer.
Please note due to restrictions placed by the shipping companies, we are unable to ship certain items to certain countries and can only send to physical addresses and not P.O. boxes. Items will always be securely and professionally packaged (and double boxed or crated where necessary).
Certain objects (due to their scale or fragility either structurally or internally) will not be available to send in the mail, and in these instances they can only be collected in person or via a personal courier. We are sorry for the inconvenience but we are sure you understand the reasons for this. Such items will be clearly marked on the listing.
Refunds, Returns and Exchanges
All items are eligible for a 14 day no-hassle money back or exchange guarantee provided they are returned in the same condition they left us in. The cost of return delivery is the responsibility of the buyer. We cannot offer returns further down the line if new data or expertise emerges (such as the number of units known to exist changes substantially).
Safety Warning/ Disclaimer
As you are fully aware all vintage electrical items have the potential for serious injury or death. This is made more acute due to their age and deteriorating components. Because of the historical significance of the items we sell (and the very specific technical expertise needed to correctly restore them) it is not our general policy to restore, rewire or recap items before sale. Where we have had work professionally done, this will always be clearly listed in the item’s description. All socketed items will be professionally PAT tested prior to sale but please note that all items are sold purely as decorative items for their historic and aesthetic value, rather than working electronic instruments. Without an exception, all items purchased via Historic Tech.com or eddintheclouds antiques should be checked by a suitably qualified individual before use and it is sole responsibility of the new owner to do so. Agreeing to purchase an item from us means you accept that Historic Tech.com and eddintheclouds cannot be held responsible for any injury or damage caused by that object.
Something to Sell?
We are always looking for new stock, so if you think you have something interesting to sell please do get in touch. Due to the volume of messages we receive we are sadly not able to reply to every one of them. However, if you have something noteworthy then the more details and images you can provide the better. Please use the ‘contact us’ form to get in touch initially. If looking to sell it is important that you state your realistic desired price as ‘make me an offer’ may not get a response.
Due to the sheer quantity of mass-produced vintage electronics out there, we have no intention of filling our shelves with endless Commodore 64s and iphones (unless there is something special about them!) so we advise that you look at our existing stock and wants list first before contacting us.
Sale or commission:
If you do have something that we are interested in buying then there are two possible routes. The first option is that we purchase the item from you outright, the second option (for agreed items) is that we sell your item for you on a commission basis (for this we charge 15% of the final sale price). In both instances please understand that there are many variables that determine an item’s current value to us, and we will always try to offer and get you the best we can, irrespective of its value on other platforms such as ebay etc. As we have specific clients with specific wish-lists our prices are not always comparable.
Finally and importantly- we do not offer free online valuations of your items. For this the internet is your best source. sorry!
